Ugly New Google

What was Google thinking when they’d decided to change their simplistic layout to this new butt ugly one. To add more insult to injury you can no longer change it back to the original format like you could a few weeks ago. I actually thought my browser had a virus or something in my cache folder. After i cleared the cache it went back to the original layout and i was happy again. However, it turns out that this was Google beta testing their new look. As of now you can’t change it back anymore!

And what the hell is up with that crappy new sidebar???

Yes sir, I am very disappointed that Google decided to go with this new look. I actually wouldn’t doubt if their design team were smoking some kind of wacky tobacco which possessed them to actually go public with this hideous scheme. I foresee in the near future that Google will probably go back to the old layout or something close by popular demand.

I don’t think they’ll change anything back, nor give us the option to do so in the preferences. I guess it is still tolerable to do searches but indeed 50% less attractive than before. Oh well?

I kinda like the new Google sidebar. It give’s you more flexible options on whatever kind of photo you want to do a search with. Say you’re looking for only red photos that will match your search query. Click on the little red box and all the photos that match your search will be red. Much useful for the graphic designer. Anyhow, I do agree with you that the new logo needs some work. Doug in Ohio

It really doesn’t bother me much. They just eliminated the drop shadows from the old logo. I agree the new sidebar is something only a few of use will use. It does however make it easier for people to rip off their desired artwork with that new color pallet.

The reason for the new logo is because you now have the option change background images in Google. The old drop shadow look could conflict with that.
