So you don’t own a vehicle eh?

Many Americans label some people as second class citizens because they walk or ride a bicycle and do not drive their very own over priced fuel capsule. While their FAT BEHIND enters a drive-thru at burger king and orders a quarter pounder of grueling trans fat! Thinking to themselves, (or even shouting) derogatory remarks as a result of a low life walking, or on the bicycle. They then feel better than that individual because they are in their high and mighty gas guzzler. That is the American way!

Because American is made for cars, the mass majorities of walkers (and some bicyclists) are more times than not lower class America (drug addicts, alcoholics, etc). With the exception of dog walking and exercise, many middle class Americans would be shamefully embarrassed if caught walking by their friends and colleagues.

Of course if you don’t own a car and don’t want to be labeled “car-less”, you can always move to New York City or Los Angeles. These are the only true places in urban America that you can live without being your own co pilot. Public Transportation is widely accepted. Doctors, lawyers, blue collar workers and even millionaires walk side by side with junkies and street winos. As for the rest of America, in most cases, “no car = no job, and no respect”.

America’s obsession with cars and the (haves and have nots) is by far one of the top issues that pisses me off about this country. I believe having a vast unified transportation system, “like Japan,” the quality of life for everyone could be much better; but fat chance that would happen anytime in this century.
