New Phone – Droid X

05 Nov

Yeap, my two year contract with Verizon had finally expired forcing me to retire my beloved LG Dare. This Droid X is pretty freaking huge compared to most, and if not all touch screen phones on gods green earth, nonetheless still fits comfortably in my pocket. It kinda reminds me of one of those old PDA devices with a touchscreen. I sometimes feel a tad bit embarrassed pulling it out it public due to its enormous size.

Being that I’m an owner of a iPod touch 3rd generation, which runs nearly bug free on Apple’s OS4. I must admit the Android 2.2 operating system that runs on the Droid X  has all sorts of bugs, but not enough to make you throw it against the wall. Comparing it to my iPod touch, which is basically an iPhone without the phone, the Droid X has a much better web browsing experience. At any rate the Droid X is a great smart phone but I still prefer my iPod to play music.

Ugly New Google

08 May

What was Google thinking when they’d decided to change their simplistic layout to this new butt ugly one. To add more insult to injury you can no longer change it back to the original format like you could a few weeks ago. I actually thought my browser had a virus or something in my cache folder. After i cleared the cache it went back to the original layout and i was happy again. However, it turns out that this was Google beta testing their new look. As of now you can’t change it back anymore!

And what the hell is up with that crappy new sidebar???

New Phone!

17 Nov

I got a new cell phone. Nope, not the iPhone hence the AT&T signal sucks, as well as having to use iTunes to upload stuff on it makes me frown too. With the LG Dare you can just drag and drop much like a USB drive, no software needed, just install the drivers. Unlike the iPhone this camera has a 3.2 megapixel lens with a flash. Also an awesome video recorder. I know Verizon had some undesirable phones in the past, but I always liked them because of their coverage. I hardly ever get dropped calls.

Perhaps the iPhone is better for browsing the internet and looks a little more stylish. Nonetheless, with the LG Dare there is no need to buy that mandatory data plan which is 20 dollars more on your monthly bill. Plus the iPhone doesn’t record video. The LG Dare can record close to crystal clear video at the right settings. I am very happy with this phone. At any rate, it is way better than my old Motorola Razr.

I want a Laptop

06 Nov

Every time I want to browse the internet these day I have go to the university or public library to do so. Since I killed my land line to avoid pesky bill collectors and telemarketers, I don’t have access to dialup or DSL anymore. Of course there is still cable and wi fi. However my nearly 6 year old 1.7 ghz Dell desktop is pretty much outdated and not fit for the status quo in cyberspace. With the sh-t money I am making selling shoes I hardly feel like ponying out 40 dollars a month for cable. So I am pretty much contemplating on getting a laptop and leach wi-fi from local coffee shops and bookstores. I am also spitting distance from the University of Arizona and wi fi is available all over the college campus. Sure I won’t have the luxury of sitting on my can in the comfort of my own home, but sometimes you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

PC or Mac?
For the longest time I wanted to break down and get an apple, although they are substantially more expensive than its distance cousin, so I probably will end up buying (you guessed it). Also I want a 17 inch screen. The i-mac laptops I have seen are not only pricey, but tiny as well.

I was recently looking at a Dell Inspiron 1720/1721 17.1″ Wide screen with the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor, Although I have seen some posts stating they aren’t very gamer friendly like the dell xps’s, but those suckers run anywhere in the neighborhood of $1900 bucks! :( At any rate here is a Dell Inspiron 1720 that is just under a thousand dollars…

17inch

If I hold out a little longer perhaps I can get something more beefy. I surely don’t want to make a mistake like the one I made 5 years ago, deciding on a humble celeron processor with cheap integrated video and sound. Then again, I don’t want to pay a freaking fortune neither. I am poor :(
